Day 1 – 13 May (Fri) – Arrival in Milan

Welcome to Milan, the hub of Italy’s economic miracle. Meet your Tour Director at the airport and your adventure begins with an orientation tour of Milan and the opportunity to see the awe-inspiring Duomo. One of the largest cathedrals in the world, this gothic structure took La Scalanearly 500 years to complete. Check into your hotel and enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Tonight join your friends for a welcome dinner at the hotel. (D)

Day 2 – 14 May (Sat) – Milan – Lucca
Join your local guide for a special visit to the CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA DELLE GRAZIE to see Leonardo da Vinci’s world-famous The Last Supper. (subject to availability) Visit the MUSEUM of the famous La Scala Opera House, and the glass-domed GALLERIA. Enjoy some time for lunch and then drive south to Lucca for your overnight stay. An optional dinner at a local Agriturismo farm is available. (B)Day 3 – 15 May (Sun) – Lucca. Cinque Terre excursion
Drive to La Spezia on the Mediterranean coast and enjoy your excursion (including a BOAT RIDE, weather permitting to CINQUE TERRE, cinque-terre-291a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The name dates back to the 15th century and is derived from five little medieval villages standing on stony spurs along five miles of the rocky coastline: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso. Enjoy free time for lunch and shopping before your TRAIN RIDE returns you to La Spezia. Back in Lucca, enjoy a walk through the quaint medieval town center. (B)

Day 4– 16 May (Mon) – Lucca –Sienna – San Gimignano – Florence
A scenic day in Tuscany. This morning, visit Siena and walk through ancient narrow lanes to beautiful PIAZZA DEL CAMPO, theater of the biannual Palio, Siena’s spectacular medieval-style horse race. Next is hilltop San Gimignano, the most picturesque of Italy’s perfectly Sienapreserved medieval towns. In the afternoon, drive along the Chianti Road leading north to Florence. Next is the highlight of the day: stop at splendid VERRAZZANO CASTLE to hear about the fine art of blending four types of grapes to obtain the famous Chianti. Enjoy a WINE TASTING and an early dinner with local specialties .(B,D)

Day 5 – 17 May (Tue) – Florence
During your walking tour with a Local Guide, visit the ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS to see Michelangelo’s celebrated David. Admire the magnificent cathedral, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistry’s heavy bronze “Gate of Paradise,” sculpture-studded SIGNORIA SQUARE, and visit SANTA CROCE BASILICA with the tomb of Michelangelo. The afternoon is free to shop for Florentine leather goods and gold jewelry sold by the ounce, which are attractive buys, or to join an optional excursion to the magnificent Uffizi Gallery. (B)

Day 6 – 18 May (Wed) – Florence at leisure
Your day is at leisure. An optional excursion to Pisa is available. Tonight drive out to the Tuscan Hills and enjoy a traditional Tuscan meal, including drinks, in a picturesque country setting. (D)
Day 7 – 19 May (Thu) – Florence – Modena – Venice
Enjoy a special treat today: a Leonardi Acetaia VINEGAR TASTING near Modena. Continue to Venice Island, a powerful magnet for romantics and art lovers from around the globe. Check into your hotel and enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Later experience a VENETIAN NIGHT OUT. Taste four mouth-watering courses of local specialties and wine or soft drinks at a fine Venetian restaurant. After dinner, time to explore romantic Venice by night. (B,D)

Day 8 – 20 May (Fri) – Venice
This morning, watch a skilled GLASSBLOWER fashion delicate objects in an age-old traditional manner before boarding your PRIVATE BOAT to ST. MARK’S SQUARE. Meet your Local Guide for a walking tour including visits to the byzantine ST. MARK’S BASILICA, lavish DOGES’ PALACE and the BRIDGE OF SIGHS. Then, enjoy Venice at your own pace or join an optional gondola ride. Enjoy a farewell dinner this evening. (B,D)venice_italy_2-wide

Day 9 – 21 May (Sat) – Venice Departure
A group transfer is provided to the Venice airport for your flight home today. (B)

Motorcoaches are fully air-conditioned everywhere while touring. No use of the motorcoach other than as specified in the itinerary. One group airport transfer on arrival and departure.

Sightseeing as outlined in the itinerary with inside visits (including admission charges) and special features shown in UPPER CASE in the tour description. Sightseeing with local guides where applicable.

The hotels provided for your custom tour quotation will be of similar quality to those listed. Please note, no hotels are reserved at the time of quotation, therefore the hotel list is subject to change. Accommodations will be confirmed 45 days after receipt of deposit OR in November of the year prior to departure, whichever is the later date. If for any reason we are unable to confirm a particular hotel within this timeline, we reserve the right to have additional time to confirm the hotel and may seek alternative accommodation. Accommodations will be provided in superior first-class hotels, or best available first-class. Twin-bedded rooms with private bath or shower, based on double occupancy. Hotel taxes, service charges, state and local taxes, porterage service for one piece of luggage per person, tips to baggage porters and hotel staff is all included in the tour prices. Groups must utilize a minimum of 10 hotel rooms

Airfare, Airport taxes (where applicable), excess baggage, meals not included in attached itinerary, all items of a personal nature such as laundry, cleaning, telephone, internet, or fax expenses, beverages including tea and coffee (except at breakfast and at hotel dinners), wines, liquors, soft drinks, etc. Gratuities for the Tour Director, motorcoach driver and local guides are not included and can be added for the entire group at your request. In some cases, gratuities for local guides cannot be included and must be paid while on tour.

Passports must comply with immigration regulations. Regulations may include, but are not limited to the following: must have at least 2 blank pages when entering a country and must have no less than 6 months before expiring. Per person price based on double occupancy: $2016 (a minimum of 22 travelers is required) Price includes land tour, sightseeing, meals and accommodations as detailed in the itinerary, airport arrival & departure transfers, and the services of a professional Tour Director.

Travel Protection is available for an additional $189 per person. (must be purchased at the same time of the initial deposit)
This plan allows you to cancel your vacation up to 24 hours, (or the prior business day, whichever is farther out) before the scheduled departure for any reason. Under this Travel Protection Plan benefit, canceling for a covered reason will result in a cash refund, minus travel protection premiums. Additional terms may apply. Cancellations and Cancellation Fees
March 2 – April 1, 2016: 25% of total price
April 2 – April 14, 2016: 20% of total price
April 15 – April 28, 2016: 40% of total price
April 29 – May 4, 2016: 50% of total price
May 5, 2016 and after: 100% of total price
Cancellation fees may also apply to any additional services, including accommodations, independently supplied services
and optional excursions, reserved prior to, during and after the tour.
